A Collapsible Spray Booth with Forced Air and Inflow & Outflow Filtration

I wanted a spray booth that I could put away when I wasn’t painting. I came up with this 5′ x 5′ x 6.5′ tall box. It’s covered in (probably) 5 mil drop cloth plastic. There’s a furnace filter in on side, up high, for inflow. On the opposite side, at the floor, is another filter with a box fan pulling air through the booth.

I position the booth and fan so that it is blowing out of my shop door. The garage never becomes super fumey this way. Of course, there are some fumes present, so I wear an organic-vapor half-mask whenever I spray.

As you can see, my shop is in my garage, and about half of it is truly still a garage!

…And it has been working Great! The poles fit in a small bucket, the two frames (the top and the bottom square) hang on the wall, and the cover/shroud and groundcloth fold up and fit into the box that the fan came in!
