Hello, Lofton! Click on a photo to enlarge...
February 9:
It’s been a busy week! First two photos show binding ledge before and after sanding; three images of binding being applied; Oh Yeah, I’ve been playing your guitar… Created the pickguard yesterday. It really came out great!
I will be receiving a chrome humbucker ring tomorrow. I originally anticipated hard-mounting the pickups to the body, but I forgot about the neck angle, which requires a higher pickup height. I thing the two chrome rings will look very nice. So the ‘color’ scheme is deep red, with chrome, black, white, and parchment. (I’ve also considered the possibility of painting the rings white. Thoughts?)
Dude, it is going to set up well and play nicely. I nailed the neck angle (Phew!). The neck pup is plenty hot, compared to the humbucker. There’s a slight drop in volume with the coil split, but the sound is beautiful! The tuners are awesome. I forgot how nice they are; high ratio and sweet locking action. Hope you enjoy the photos.
This is the version from Sunday, 12/1. It is a good length, the strap buttons are in the right places, and it's just a little narrower than the Telecaster. The curves keep getting massaged, but I feel it's fairly refined at this point. See the photos below... Tell me what you think.
Oh yeah, the pickguard!
Below are the first, second, and fifth (!) iteration compared to a Tele and each other.
OK, I like this; I hope you do too. Finessed the curves, worked out the headstock, put binding on the neck, took out the sunburst. Maybe the final pickguard?... Oh yeah, it's 24 frets in this version - campare to the previous one below...
Here's the latest rendering; new pickguard, wider body.
